Sponsor Firefly
Firefly Medaka is my medaka breeding business in North Carolina. The people who read this site are setting up a tank or a patio tub, and a sponsored ad here sits in front of them while they choose their gear.
Who reads the site
Traffic is from Cloudflare Web Analytics with bots excluded, read October 20, 2026. Cloudflare samples its counts, so every traffic figure is a rounded estimate. Most visitors are in the US.
Many of my customers are first-time keepers. Often they have just built a tank or a patio tub, or they are in the middle of setting one up, and buying fish is one of the last steps. That is the same window when people shop for filtration, lighting, food, and water care, and many have not settled on a brand yet.
Some find me through my care guides, which answer the questions beginners search for. It is a small audience, and it is the right one for gear that a new keeper buys once and keeps.
Where a sponsored ad shows
Four spots, one sponsor per spot at a time. Every spot carries the words Sponsored ad directly above it in plain body text, so a reader always knows what it is.
Guide topic sponsor
A small box under the intro of every guide in one topic group: new keepers and water, breeding and feeding, or outdoor tubs and ponds.
About 50 guide page views a month per topic
Guides banner
One banner on the guides index and at the foot of every guide, left off any guide that argues against your kind of product.
About 190 guide page views a month, less any guides left off
Featured brand on the shop
A card below the product grid on my fish, plants, snails, and supplies pages, so it never sits between a buyer and the cart. Gear that does not compete with what I sell.
The fish page alone had about 210 page views in the last 30 days
YouTube Short mention
One mention in one Firefly Medaka Short a month, marked "Paid ad" on screen and said out loud. Sold only with a site spot while the channel is small.
No view promise. The channel is restarting.
What a sponsor box looks like on a guide
Medaka are one of the most rewarding egg-layers in the hobby: a healthy female can lay eggs nearly every morning through the warm season, the eggs are tough enough to handle with your fingers, and the fry are simple to raise.
The guide continues below the box, unchanged.
What never changes
- Ads never change what I write or recommend. No sponsor edits a guide, buys a review, or gets a product onto my recommends page.
- No ads on the recommends page, the homepage, single product pages, the cart, or checkout.
- A sponsor box never sits on a guide that argues against its product. A heater brand will not show up on Do Medaka Need a Heater?
- No medaka sellers, and no brand selling live fish that I sell.
- I can refuse or remove any ad that misleads readers or competes with my fish.
How I disclose it
Every sponsored spot says "Sponsored ad" right above it. Every paid link carries rel="sponsored",
so search engines know it is a paid link. Every sponsored spot is a plain image and a link that I host on my own site. No advertiser scripts, pixels, or trackers ever load on my pages. If a brand that is already on my recommends page advertises here, its
listing gets a note beside it: "[Brand] pays to advertise on my site. [Product] was on this list first." The
listing stays only as long as I keep recommending the product, whether or not the brand advertises.
