Who reads this site
Firefly Medaka is a working breeder first. It is not a content channel today, though that side may grow as time allows. I raise Japanese medaka outdoors in North Carolina and ship them across the contiguous US, alongside snails, floating plants, and handmade breeding supplies.
Many of my customers are first-time keepers. Often they have just built a tank or a patio tub, or they are in the middle of setting one up, and buying fish is one of the last steps. That is the same window when people shop for filtration, lighting, and water care, and many have not settled on a brand yet.
Some find me through my care guides, which answer the questions beginners search for. A customer who trusted me enough to have live animals shipped to their door may also be open to my recommendations. As of October 2026, my eBay seller record is 206 feedback at 100% positive.

Gifted products I test and disclose
Send me a product and I will test it in my own outdoor breeding setup and tell you honestly how it did. Gifted product is always disclosed, a review is never for sale, and a product only reaches my Products I Use and Recommend page if I already use it and stand behind it.
Care guide placement
Contextual placements inside the guides, labeled Sponsored ad. My guides answer the questions beginners search for, and I can share how much search traffic they get.
Retail and dropship
Selling your products alongside the fish, shipping together, could become a recurring channel rather than a one-time campaign.

How I work
I only recommend equipment I actually use. More than three decades in this hobby means plenty of money wasted on gear that did not hold up, so I am particular about what I put my name on. If a product does not perform for me, I would rather tell you privately than publish a review I do not stand behind.
Sponsored and gifted products are always disclosed clearly. My recommendations only carry weight because customers trust them, and protecting that trust is in your interest as much as mine.
