Anacharis (Egeria densa)

$4.99

Anacharis is a classic submerged stem plant, sold in the hobby for decades, with dense whorls of bright green leaves running up a long stem. It grows quickly in good light and is forgiving of almost everything else.

Like Hornwort, it propagates by simply being broken. Pinch off a section, put it back in the water, and it carries on growing as a separate plant. That makes one portion the start of a permanent supply.

In a medaka setup it does the work you want from a submerged plant: cover for fry, competition against algae for nutrients, and oxygen during daylight. It pairs naturally with floating plants, which handle the surface while this fills the water column.

You will receive a healthy starter portion, grown outdoors in my own pots in North Carolina.
