Live Medaka Shipped to Arizona
Yes, I ship live Japanese rice fish to Arizona. Boxes leave Raleigh, North Carolina on Mondays by UPS 2nd Day Air, so a Monday box is normally due Wednesday. I have no shop or pickup in Arizona.
Arizona weather and your fish
Arizona is two climates. Phoenix and Tucson bake while Flagstaff and the high country get real snow, and desert summer sun can overheat a small container in an afternoon.
In the low desert, a black tub in full sun is the setup to avoid, and a light-colored container on the shaded side of the house is far safer. Above about 5,000 feet, treat it as a cold-winter state and go deep.
When to order
Spring and fall are the best windows. Summer heat at your door is my usual reason to hold a box.
Keeping medaka here
Roughly USDA hardiness zones 4 to 10. Large water volume buffers daily swings, and floaters cut the sun. A 10-gallon or larger indoor tank skips the weather altogether. More in my winter guide.
Plants for Arizona
Nothing in my plant shop is on my restricted list for Arizona today.
Rates, holds, and the live arrival guarantee are on my shipping page. Never release fish or plants into local water, and ask your state wildlife agency about local rules.
