Live Medaka Shipped to New Mexico
Yes, I ship live Japanese rice fish to New Mexico. Boxes leave Raleigh, North Carolina on Mondays by UPS 2nd Day Air, so a Monday box is normally due Wednesday. I have no shop or pickup in New Mexico. Firefly fish have already landed in New Mexico.
New Mexico weather and your fish
New Mexico's high desert brings strong sun, dry air, and surprisingly cold nights, especially around Santa Fe and Taos. Big day and night swings favor large water volume.
Albuquerque summers are hot and bright, and monsoon storms can dump water into a tub fast. Up in Santa Fe, the altitude means freezing nights lasting well into spring, so hold off on moving fish outside too early.
When to order
Spring and fall are the best windows. Summer heat at your door is my usual reason to hold a box.
Keeping medaka here
Roughly USDA hardiness zones 4 to 9. Large water volume buffers daily swings, and floaters cut the sun. A 10-gallon or larger indoor tank skips the weather altogether. More in my winter guide.
Plants for New Mexico
Nothing in my plant shop is on my restricted list for New Mexico today.
Rates, holds, and the live arrival guarantee are on my shipping page. Never release fish or plants into local water, and ask your state wildlife agency about local rules.
