CHAMPAGNE GOLD Medaka Japanese Rice Fish
Champagne Gold Medaka are a soft, pale gold Japanese Rice Fish with a warm champagne body and a fine metallic sparkle across the back. They are a quieter fish than my bolder lines, and that is the appeal: rather than one flat block of colour, the scales catch the light in scattered gold flecks that shift as the fish moves.
They show at their best from above, which is how most people view an outdoor pot or a patio tub. Looking down through the water on a sunny afternoon, the metallic flecking lights up along the spine while the body stays a pale, creamy gold. In a planted container against dark water and green plants, the contrast is genuinely striking.
As with all of my lines, every Champagne Gold develops its own combination of tone and flecking, so no two are quite the same.
My Champagne Gold Medaka are raised outdoors in North Carolina under natural sunlight and real seasonal conditions. Growing up in an outdoor pot rather than under a grow light develops stronger colour and hardier fish, and means they settle into an aquarium, patio tub, or outdoor pond without fuss.
Every live order ships with free floating plants and a free baby Japanese Trapdoor Snail, and is covered by my live arrival guarantee.
