Lux in Tenebris Medaka Sweatshirt, Firefly Medaka Special Edition

The Lux in Tenebris design on a crewneck sweatshirt, for the whole dark season. "Lux in Tenebris" is Latin for "light in darkness," a nod to the firefly in my name.

A night moth with pink eyespots sits on top of an oval Victorian cameo. Inside, my engraved medaka swims beneath a crescent moon and stars, two fireflies glow in pink halftone beside the banner, and "Firefly Medaka" crowns it all in blackletter with a thin pink outline. Gothic and a little dark academia, with no skulls needed.

The medaka is engraved from the same measured drawing as my field guide tee, so the fins sit where they do on a real rice fish. It prints in bone and Firefly pink.

Printed direct to garment on the Gildan Heavy Blend 18000, a medium-heavy 8 oz crewneck sweatshirt in 50/50 cotton and polyester fleece, with a classic fit, a ribbed collar, cuffs, and waistband that hold their shape, and a tear-away label so nothing scratches. Wash cold inside out and tumble dry low.

The sweatshirt is the cold-weather Lux in Tenebris, an 8 oz fleece crewneck for November through March. The classic fit layers easily over a tee or a long sleeve.
