The Medaka Starter Kit puts a whole tank's start in one box: three Japanese rice fish you pick yourself, one of my handmade spawning mops, my usual mix of floating plants, a baby Japanese Trapdoor Snail, and my arrival-day guide, at one price.
Whether it's your first tub or your fifth, it's the easy way to start a tank. It is built for a tank or tub of 10 gallons or more. Three fish is the right number to begin with: enough to behave like a little school, with room to grow into a colony. Pick any three of the varieties I have in stock, or make one slot a snail. Your picks are randomly sexed, and I choose for health and color.
The mop is the same handmade spawning mop I sell by the pair. Medaka lay their eggs in it, you lift it out every day or two, and the eggs hatch in a separate container, which is how a hobby tank turns into a colony. The floating plants are the mix I send with every live order, matched to your state, so I never promise one species. The baby snail is the cleanup crew.
